My College Story
When I started college at Tennessee College of Applied Technology in September of 2013, I thought to myself, "How will I ever make it through." The program that was presented to me when I came in and applied seemed simple, but when I actually got into the class and got my syllabi I was more than overwhelmed. Then, I started going through them one by one, and things made a lot more sense. Each syllabus was easier when it was by itself. By second trimester I had learned that if I would just take it one syllabus at a time, things were easier to grasp and understand. I hadn't learned that not being in the classroom with the teacher would get me extremely behind. I chose to go in to what we call the "front room," and doing so caused me to actually have to add an extra trimester to finish with my customer service diploma. Now, I'm in my third trimester, just a little more than a week in, and I am working on two subjects at a time. I worked my way to getting to be able to do the two subjects at time. It wasn't easy. I will be done in December, and one thing I've learned is sometimes you just have to take a deep breathe and take a minute to grasp things.
